Sunday Roundup – 10/31/10

Happy Halloween! (and Happy Birthday older brother! I’m sure your Catholic OBGYN is having a hayday right now…) I saw The Gorillaz perform yesterday, which was pretty sweet - plus I bought a T-shirt, so now I’m officially part of the awesome group :)
There’s no Q&A this week because I was effectively out of commission this week (ironically, the rain decided to stop today, of all days…) Here are some interesting articles I found these week and I’ll be sure to start responding to questions and comments this coming week!
Also, for those of you who don’t know already: please take a moment to read this commentary on Steve Li’s plight. He’s effectively been separated from his parents and is awaiting deportation to Peru because of a judicial mishap, bureaucratic incompetence, and his parents’ lapse of judgement – in short, he is a victim of the American policy on illegal immigration. I was informed by my friend Joann about his situation, and I hope there’ll be enough support out there to help him continue on with his dream of becoming a nurse.
• Kuroneko (黒猫, “The Black Cat”) Essay – by Michael Nordine of Not Coming to a Theatre Near You
• Penis Bandits – my friend NhaKhanh linked me this one. Our conversation ensued like so:
NK: Haha penis bandits!
Q: hahahaha awwww…. By the same token, men who believe in penis bandits deserve to ride the special yellow bus for the special children…
• Christopher Nolan reveals the title and (some few) details of Batman 3 – !!!!!!!!
• Simpson’s Illustrated June 1998 - by Nina Matsumoto (you may know her as the artist of The Simpsonzu)
…
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be going on about my business to scarf down as much Candy Corn as possible before I go and puke. Yay!
